Slipknot has shared a 20-minute short film called “Pollution,” directed by the band's percussionist M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan. The film appears to expand on the official music video for “Nero Forte, which was released last month and is the latest single from the group's new album, We Are Not Your Kind.
Crahan elaborated on the film, stating, “I set out to make a short film that makes you question your own existence, here in this reality. When you lay down in your bed, next to the one you love, do you ever ask yourself — is it possible that this person could slit my throat while I'm sleeping? Enjoy. Pollution is everywhere.”
Crahan directed his first feature film, Officer Downe, in 2016 and told us at the time that the experience of making his first full-length movie was grueling but satisfying: “I did six weeks, three weeks of pre-pro and 21 days of straight filming, and it was the hardest I've ever worked in my life. But it was everything and anything I could have ever dreamt of. Some things were a struggle, but it was a trip.”
“Pollution” seems to be what the band was teasing on Monday (January 13th), when it posted a series of short, cryptic teaser videos across its social media accounts. Some of those videos, in turn, pointed to an Instagram account with the handle @thehueisblack01, although the connection with that page is not quite clear.
In other news, Daily Dead reports that Slipknot singer Corey Taylor has enlisted makeup effects legend Tom Savini to create visuals for Taylor's own debut as a film director. The project, a horror movie that Taylor wrote the screenplay for, is currently in pre-production. Savini is legendary for his makeup effects on horror classics like the original Dawn Of The Dead and Friday The 13th.
