Nickelback's official web site has launched a countdown clock that is scheduled to hit zero on Tuesday (January 21st) at 9:00 a.m. PT. The band has also released a one-minute teaser video and captioned it with lyrics from the song “Photograph” from the 2005 album All The Right Reasons.
The caption on the clip features the lyrics, “We said someday we'd find out how it feels/To sing to more than just the steering wheel,” along with a link to Nickelback.com and the hashtags #ATRR15 and #NB2020. This suggests that a celebration of the 15th anniversary of the Canadian acts's fifth studio album is in the works for this year.
Meanwhile, the Syracuse, New York venue St. Joseph's Health Amphitheater is teasing a new concert announcement on Facebook with a photo of a black car on a sun-soaked highway. The venue's account featured the lyrics “I'm driving black on black” along with the same hashtags as the band site. The lyrics are from the Nickelback song “Animals,” which is also from All The Right Reasons.
All The Right Reasons was released in October 2005, when it topped the Canadian and U.S. albums charts. It has sold 12 million copies worldwide and is the quartet's best-selling album to date, moving well over eight million copies in the U.S. alone.
Frontman Chad Kroeger told us a while back that Nickelback had no inkling of how successful the record would become when they were making it: “I don't think it was like we all sat back after we finished recording it and said, 'Oh my God, this is gonna be like the biggest record of our lives.' I mean, that definitely wasn't the case. It was us sitting around saying, 'Wow, we're really proud of this record and I hope that everyone else is gonna love it half as much as we do.'”
Nickelback's last studio album, Feed The Machine, was released in 2017 and was the band's seventh straight LP to enter the Billboard 200 album chart in the Top 10.
