Jon Bon Jovi was Billy Joel's special guest on Saturday night (January 25th) at Madison Square Garden. The New Jersey rocker appeared during the encore section of Billy's show to perform a double-shot of Billy's first chart-topper “It's Still Rock And Roll To Me” along with the 52 Street classic, “Big Shot.” Bon Jovi is no stranger to Billy's music. Back in 2002 during the “Piano Man's” MusiCares honor, the band performed a note-perfect rendition of his Turnstiles opener, “Say Goodbye To Hollywood.”
Jon Bon Jovi isn't the first member of Bon Jovi to share the stage with the “Piano Man” — back on June 20th, 2015 former-guitarist Richie Sambora tore up the Garden with performances of “Big Shot” and “You May Be Right.” We caught up with Sambora a couple of nights before the gig and he let it slip what he and Billy Joel had been planning: “I’m gonna give you a little tease; on Saturday I'm gonna go to the Garden and jam with Billy Joel. Y’know, Billy and I played a lot together and the good thing about it just, the one thing I feel, like, is missing in music these days is, like improvisation. I suggested (we do a) Righteous Brothers (song.) Me and him singin’ some of that would be cool. So, we’ll see what happens.”
Billy Joel will next perform on February 7th at Tampa's Amalie Arena.
Bon Jovi will be back on the road starting on June 10th at Tacoma, Washington's Tacoma Dome.
