Queen Elizabeth II has appointed Prince William as the new Lord High Commissioner to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland. As the Lord High Commissioner, William is the monarch’s personal representative to the Church of Scotland, with various ceremonial duties.
The 37-year-old takes over from Richard Scott, the 10th Duke of Buccleuch and 12th Duke of Queensberry. This all comes amid Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s decision to step down from the royal family.
Last week, the royals cemented an agreement for Megxit. Since the official word, their wedding memorabilia have been pulled from the Royal Collection.
Meghan appears to be loving her post-royal life, and seems to be driving home the point that she is just as committed to humanitarian causes as she ever was. She posted a pre-royal pic on the @SussexRoyal Instagram account: “Today, on International Day of Education, we highlight the importance of access to education for all. The Duchess of Sussex has focused on this both prior to becoming a member of the Royal Family and now as patron of The Association of Commonwealth Universities (@The_ACU_Official).”
She continued: “I will always have the utmost respect for my grandmother, my commander-in-chief, and I am incredibly grateful to her and the rest of my family, for the support they have shown Meghan and I over the last few months. I will continue to be the same man who holds his country dear and dedicates his life to supporting the causes, charities and military communities that are so important to me.”
