Harvey Weinstein‘s legal team cross-examined one of his rape accusers Jessica Mann in court on Monday, accusing her of lying to Weinstein.
Attorney Donna Rotunno quoted her testimony from last week, in which she detailed her revulsion at his appearance and hygiene.
Rotunno asked: “Had you met someone who looked like Mr. Weinstein who did not have his success or power, you would never have agreed to meet him?,” adding that she “lied” to him and used him to gain access to connections in the industry.
“Your entire relationship with Mr. Weinstein, you lied to him every singe time you made him believe you wanted to be there,” Rotunno said.
“For my safety, yeah,” Mann answered.
Mann has accused Weinstein of raping her in 2013, though she also admitted to seeing him until 2016 out of fear.
Rotunno asked Mann: “When your mother was in town, you wanted to introduce her to him, correct?”
“My mother was pressuring me really hard to meet him and I didn’t want her to meet him because I didn’t want to involve her in my life,” Mann said. “My mom made me feel like she was being judgmental…and I wanted to get her off my back.”
GOLDEN SHOWER
Mann also testified that Weinstein asked her she’d ever “had a golden shower” before urinating on her. The 34-year-old said it happened while they were in the shower in an L.A. hotel.
“We were in the shower. He wanted to shower first which was beneficial to me … and he asked me to come into the shower and then he said to me, ‘Have you ever had a golden shower,’ and I said ‘no’ and then I felt him peeing on me,” said Mann.
Rotunno asked Mann: “Did you say, ‘No thanks’?”
“I was in shock by it. It was gross … I turned into the corner of the shower and just looked away,” Mann said while choking up.
Later, Mann said she “engaged with my abuser because of what I believed in my mind and the perception of the society I lived in … it was always in my best interest to feel that the temperature gauge between us was going to be okay.”
Weinstein faces of up life in prison if convicted on assault and rape charges. He has pleaded not guilty.
