Once again, the Rolling Stones gave taken to posting song lyrics along with the band's signature “tongue and lips” logo on billboards in advance of announcing their tour dates. The lyrics alternate depending on the city, but all feature such classic lines as “It's just a kiss away” from “Gimme Shelter” and “Let's Spend The Night Together.” Cities that have spotted billboards include Minneapolis, Minnesota; Tampa, Florida; and Austin, Texas.
A brief video was posted on the band's social media with an outdoor scene featuring the band's logo projected onto the open sky.
As we previously reported, the usually reliable IORR.org website puts the band in Louisville, Kentucky on June 21st at the 45,000-set Cardinal Stadium. Other cities said to be on the itinerary — which is rumored to be announced this week — include Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; San Diego, California; St. Louis, Missouri; Cleveland, Ohio; Buffalo, New York; Baltimore, Maryland; Nashville, Tennessee; Charlotte, North Carolina; Tampa, Florida; Atlanta, Georgia; and Vancouver, BC. So far, no dates have been officially announced.
Keith Richards was asked what it is about the Rolling Stones that keeps them a mainstay for each and every new generation as it comes of age: “It’s a weird — just a strange piece of chemistry. . . why it should work, I don’t know. I couldn’t, y’know, put it in a laboratory and try to figure out Charlie Watts (laughs) Mick Jagger, and Keith Richards, and sort of shake ‘em all about and put 'em in — I really don’t know.”
Although Mick Jagger is now 76, that doesn't mean that he pulls any punches or holds anything back once he hits the stage: “Listen, when you do it at 19, you do things you can't (laughs) do at my age. But I still try to make the show as (laughs) energetic as I can make it.”
