In This Moment singer Maria Brink was asked by Loudwire in a new interview what she thinks the biggest misconception is about her.
Brink responded, “They all think I'm a Satanist, and I got people chained up in my basement. There's videos of people basically dissecting the (“The In-Between”) video on how it's evil, and how there's six hands around my head.”
Brink told us a while back that she's also struggled with being seen as a sex object: “People like to put out a lot of more sexual-looking pictures of me, so if you don't know who we are and you just look from the surface, you may lean towards that. But I think people who really know us and give us a chance — whether or not you like us or don't like us — you listen to the diversity of the songs, there's songs about survival and, you know, rights and power and things that are deep in the spirit. So it's like, that's just them looking at the exterior and just all putting these judgments.”
The vocalist said that the images some people have of her is actually the opposite of how she is in real life, explaining, “I'm actually a really private person, really withdrawn. People think they know who I am, but they don't.” She added, “I'm a loving person, I love everybody and human beings. I do have a darkness to me, but I would never do bad things or wish bad things on people, or hurt anything or anyone.”
“The In-Between” is the first single and video from In This Moment's upcoming album, Mother, which arrives on March 27th.
