The Strokes have officially announced the release of their new album. Titled The New Abnormal, the band’s sixth full-length LP will arrive on April 10th. The nine-track effort was recorded at Shangri-La Studios in Malibu and produced by Rick Rubin, while the album’s cover artwork is a painting by Jean-Michel Basquiat called Bird On Money.
The first single is called “At The Door” and comes accompanied with an animated music video in which a young boy conjures up an intergalactic space battle in order to escape his own harsh reality.
The Strokes premiered the video and performed another new song called “Bad Decisions” on Monday night (February 10th) during a concert and campaign rally in support of presidential contender Bernie Sanders in New Hampshire.
The new album is the long-awaited follow-up to 2013’s Comedown Machine, the New York City group's last full-length LP. They released a four-song EP called Future Present Past in 2016.
To support the new LP, the Strokes will make a number of festival appearances both here and abroad, in addition to a brief run of West Coast arena shows in March.
