Bad Wolves singer Tommy Vext has shared an emotional plea against domestic violence following the death of Dr. Amie Harwick, a Los Angeles-based sex therapist who Vext had known for 14 years.
The 38-year-old Harwick died on February 15th. A man named Gareth Pursehouse is suspected of killing the therapist by throwing her over her apartment's balcony. Harwick had previously sought restraining orders against Pursehouse, whom she dated years earlier.
Harwick's death moved Vext to speak out against domestic violence during a show in Vienna, with the singer telling the audience, “Too long have we as men brushed this issue under the rug with our own painful memories. Statistically one out of every three adults who grew up in a family that engaged in domestic violence will grow up to engage in DV with an intimate partner as adults.”
In an anguished post on Instagram, Vext later wrote about Harwick, “His hate will never snuff out the love that you put in all of us. Your light is so much brighter then this passing darkness and you’re going to live on forever in all the good you brought into all our lives.”
Bad Wolves just wrapped up a European tour in support of their sophomore album, N.A.T.I.O.N.
