Tool has added an extensive spring tour for North America to the band's calendar as it continues to promote its Fear Inoculum album. The new trek kicks off on April 16th in Miami, making some 29 stops until it winds down on June 23rd in San Francisco.
This run also includes a headlining slot at Tennessee's Bonnaroo Festival in June and a newly announced headlining show on May 17th to close Columbus, Ohio's Sonic Temple festival. Tool is replacing Metallica at the latter event.
Tickets for most dates go on sale this Friday (February 28th) at 10:00 a.m. local time, with the exception of Sioux Falls and St. Louis which are on sale at noon local time. A limited number of VIP packages are available exclusively to Tool Army members via Toolband.com/vip-package this Wednesday (February 26th), also at 10:00 a.m. local.
Bassist Justin Chancellor told us a while back that sometimes new material emerges as the band is playing live: “We do a lot of kind of segues, you know. When the shows start to really flow, you know, you start to come up with little segues that take one song into another, whether it's like an old song into a new one or whatever, you know. It starts to help the entire set really flow. And those pieces, those little links, if you like, they tend to become song ideas for the future, definitely.”
