Blink-182 bassist Mark Hoppus tweeted that he and his family are self-quarantining inside their home during the COVID-19 outbreak. Hoppus wrote, “My family and I are hunkered down in our house for the next week. We are self-quarantining and canceled all people coming to the house, all meetings and events. No one in, no one out. We have another family that we're friends with who are doing the same.”
Hoppus added that his family has enough food and supplies to last the week, and added that if they're not showing any symptoms of the virus, they will begin seeing family and friends again.
Meanwhile, Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson revealed on Twitter that he'll be self-quarantining for the next two weeks. Lifeson lives in the province of Ontario, which, to date, houses the largest number of COVID-19 cases in Canada.
Lifeson wrote, “Just returned from Spring Break with my kids. We are all self quarantining for 14 days. All travelers should. Looking forward to getting caught up on Netflix!! Send your top viewing suggestions.”
The founders of Kiss also took to social media to encourage their fans to practice social distancing. Paul Stanley tweeted, “PLEASE. It may seem surreal. It may seem inconceivable. We are about to see illness, deaths and an overwhelmed hospital system never seen in our lifetime. Businesses are closing. This is NOT an opportunity for get-togethers or parties. SOCIAL DISTANCING IS THE MINIMUM. STAY HOME.”
His bandmate Gene Simmons wrote in part, “Stay positive out there, everybody. Just keep washing your hands, and keep your distance from everybody, and you should be OK. This too, shall pass.”
