Ingrid Andress is celebrating another huge career milestone with her Gold-certified debut single “More Hearts Than Mine.” The Top 10 hit made history in 2019 as the only solo female debut to crack the Top 20, and now she's joined this week by Gabby Barrett's solo debut, “I Hope,” to mark the first time in chart history that two women have occupied the Country Airplay Top 10 with their first-ever singles.
With all the talk about females not getting equal play on country radio, achieving such feats, especially as a new artist, is a very big deal. In fact, Ingrid tells us EXCLUSIVELY that she never knew how big until she began her radio tour to introduce herself to stations around the country. “I never really knew that that was such a thing. I just was introduced to it when I started doing country radio and I was like, 'Huh, I'm not playing many shows with other girls. Like, I haven't seen another girl in weeks,' so like that started to get weird. I was like, 'Huh, this is interesting,' and then obviously people started talking about it and I was like, 'Wow, that's not good.'”
Apple Music has tapped Ingrid as the first female country artist named to their Up Next program. The monthly artist initiative showcases rising talent and has highlighted such artists as Billie Eilish, H.E.R., Khalid, Bazzi, Bad Bunny, and Megan Thee Stallion.
