Avenged Sevenfold is encouraging the band's fans to self-isolate during the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic by giving away merch. The band took to social media on Thursday (March 19th) to announce that it's making a check-in page where fans can upload selfies from home when prompted by the band's Instagram Story at random times to ensure they're following social distancing practices.
Fans who successfully upload a selfie with a phrase of the day written on a piece of paper within 30 minutes of the post going up will receive a free T-shirt, hoodie or accessory if they can complete the challenge for seven days straight.
Fans also don't have to worry about being absolutely perfect with their self-isolation, as they can restart the seven-day challenge at any point if they miss a post. The band said, “We have a chance to 'flatten the curve' and save countless lives. We are all in this together.”
Aside from the contest, Avenged Sevenfold will otherwise be temporarily shutting down any online ordering of merchandise.
The group has kept a low profile for much of the past year as it works on material for its eighth studio album.
