Mongolian band The Hu has been stranded in Sydney, Australia as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, with the band unable to return to its home country because Mongolia has sealed its borders.
The band has had to cancel two months' worth of touring after playing three shows in Australia, and is uncertain when it can return home.
Prior to their arrival in Australia, The Hu had taken a break from its first world tour, which launched last June, to record part of its second album in a remote location in Bali, Indonesia.
Throat singer Jaya explained, “We were deep into the island, about an hour into a little town with nothing much going on, with only the villa we stayed in. The studio is totally isolated, and we were just focusing on creating more songs.”
The band has continued to record at a friend's studio in Sydney and working on getting back to Mongolia, where they be tested and then placed in quarantine for 14 days before they are allowed to go home.
The Hu's debut LP, The Gereg, is out now. The current single, “Yuve Yuve Yu,” is Number Seven on the rock radio chart.
