The #NickelbackRiffChallenge is on! The challenge was launched online earlier this week and has now been endorsed by the band itself.
The band wrote, “We had a friend tell us about the #NickelbackRiffChallenge. Here are the rules . . . Pick a Nickelback riff and play it. One take, no revisions! Post the video as a reply to this tweet and tag a friend to challenge them to do the same. Let's see what you got!”
The rules are simple: pick a Nickelback riff and play it in one take. The group is now asking fans to record their riffs and post them as replies on Nickelback's official account. Most of the responses have come from fans, but one user who took up the challenge was Three Days Grace singer and guitarist Matt Walst.
Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger told us a while back that the band wrote songs that appealed to everyone: “We don't write music for one kind of person or one age group or just males or just females or whatever it might be. You know, I've got older friends, I've got younger friends, I've got friends that, career-wise, do absolutely everything, you know, such a rainbow grab bag of friends that I have. And so I find the same thing with the music, you know — why just make one kind of music for one kind of taste? Why not make music for everybody?”
Nickelback guitarist Ryan Peake recently took to social media to discuss the band's response to the coronavirus crisis, saying, “Everybody's hunkered down in their places, respectively, and just staying home as much as possible. I think that's the best thing we can do at this time — listen to professionals and stay home.”
