System Of A Down frontman Serj Tankian has collaborated with fellow Armenian-American and Capital Cities singer/keyboardist Sebu Simonian plus Armenian rapper Misho on a song called “Introvert (Call Me Crazy).” The track will likely appear on Simonian's upcoming solo album, tentatively titled Many Faces.
Tankian stated about the track, “Always fun to work with good friends whom you also deeply respect as artists. After hanging out a few times over Armenian Apricot Vodka and food, we decided to do a track together for fun and this song is the result. This is the best of Armenian hip hop Misho coupled with gorgeous pop melodies from Sebu with whatever the f**k I do.”
Even though he's collaborated with other artists before, Tankian told us a while back that he's always written music by himself: “Even with System, I always wrote the songs by myself in my own studio. I would write the songs, and have the vocals, have the whole arrangement done, then I'd take it to the band. But I'd still work the song from its inception to full form by myself. This is something I'd been doing for a very long time.”
Tankian and System Of A Down were scheduled to play some shows this spring and summer but all plans are on hold due to the COVID-19 crisis. The band has not recorded new music since 2005.
Capital Cities have released two studio albums, the last being Solarize in 2018, and scored a Number One hit at alternative radio in 2013 with “Safe And Sound.”
