Tekashi 6ix9ine was released from prison several months early due to the coronavirus pandemic. According to TMZ, on Wednesday (April 1st), a New York judge granted the rapper's motion to be released and was released yesterday (April 2nd). He will now spend the final four months of his 24 month sentence under home confinement. The judge found that “extraordinary and compelling reasons” warranted a reduction of his sentence and that he “does not pose a danger to the community.”
The rapper's attorney Dawn Floria said in a statement, “I am super excited that the judge granted Danny the opportunity to serve his last four months on home confinement so he could be re-united with his family and be safer than in jail because of the Covid-19 pandemic.”
His other attorney Lance Lazarro said in a statement, “We are all very happy that he was released.” Lazarro added that the rapper did not show any symptoms of coronavirus and guessed that he would receive a test “when it becomes readily available.”
Tekashi was originally set to be released at the end of July due to good behavior.
SO . . . NOW WHAT?
Meanwhile, Floria revealed to Complex that Tekashi, born Daniel Hernandez, will be allowed to work on new music while on home confinement. She said, “Yes, he can release music.” She continued, “What he’s gonna do is, he already has that advance for 10K Projects. So he has to put out a Spanish album and an English album. So that’s what he’s going to be working on.”
Floria said they are trying to figure out how to set up a studio in 6ix9ine's house during quarantine. She said, “We were actually trying to figure out the logistics of how that’s going to work. It’s more difficult because of the coronavirus, because you don’t want strange people coming in to set up a studio where he’s going to be.”
She continued, “He already got an advance for all those millions of dollars. So he's gotta put out those two albums as soon as possible.”
Floria also revealed that the rapper will be able to use social media but his content “has to be in good taste. No more trolling.”
