Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan, Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash and Guns bassist Duff McKagan are among the artists who appear on Blvds Of Splendor, the latest solo LP from former Runaways singer Cherie Currie.
The album was originally issued as a limited vinyl release last year and will now arrive digitally on April 28th. Former Guns drummer Matt Sorum also plays on the album and produced it. Other guests on the disc include actress/singer Juliette Lewis, Distillers singer Brody Dalle and the Veronicas.
Sorum said, “Cherie’s voice tells it all, she is the real deal. And now more than ever that voice tells the story of where’s she’s been in her life. This record is about who Cherie Currie is now. We’ve waited a long time to hear this icon of rock n’ roll do what she does best.”
The album has been in the works for years, with Currie and Sorum initially starting on tracks back in 2010. But Currie was sidelined with a significant injury when she fell while working on one of her chainsaw carvings. The incident left Currie with partial face paralysis and severe head trauma, with a recovery time that took over 10 months.
The digital version comes with three bonus tracks, including a cover of the Runaways' “Queens Of Noise,” the title track from the all-female rock band's 1977 sophomore album.
