David Draiman has been getting a lot of praise for his vocal performance on Disturbed’s version of “The Sound of Silence.”
This weekend, he swapped tweets with Russell Crowe. Referring to a new fan-created music video focusing on the pandemic, the Oscar-winning actor tweeted: “Perhaps the greatest rock vocal ever.” And the band returned with a simple “Thank you Russell Crowe” and included a prayer emoji.
This isn't the first time Crowe has inserted his comments about the track. Back in 2016, he stated: “Every now and then someone comes along and redefines genius.”
Disturbed’s studio version of “The Sound of Silence” went to #1 on the Billboard Hard Rock and Mainstream Rock charts and became the band's highest-charting single ever on the Top 100 . It’s from their sixth studio album, Immortalized, which was released in 2015.
