The new Evanescence album just got one step closer to reality with the announcement of its title, The Bitter Truth. In addition, the first single from the band's fourth studio effort, called “Wasted On You,” will be made available this Friday (April 24th).
The band announced the news on Twitter, saying: “We promised you a new album in 2020 and we won't let anything stop us. We are proud to begin sharing our new album The Bitter Truth with you, one piece at a time, starting with our first song 'Wasted On You' next Friday!”
The Bitter Truth will be the first all-new Evanescence album since 2011's self-titled LP.
Singer Amy Lee told Loudwire about the musical direction of the band's new material, saying, “It's a combination of a lot of things. It's definitely 100 percent us, but it's also taking risks. And I think it's meaningful — it's deeply meaningful.”
Lee told us a while back that music has always been an escape for her: “The music is an oasis. It's a place where I have complete freedom to say anything and everything that my heart wants to. It's a place for me to just completely let go and emote and things just come out and I don't always even know what they mean at first, but then listening back I hear my subconscious talking. I mean, that has been the case for me from the beginning. It's part of the reason I love what I do so much.”
This past January, Evanescence returned with its first new rock recording in eight years, “The Chain (From Gears 5).” The band recorded its version of the Fleetwood Mac classic for Gears 5, the latest entry in the massively popular Gears Of War video game series.
