Jane's Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro has partnered with the Punk Rock & Paintbrushes art collective to release his "More Government Care?" limited-edition signed art print. The painting was part of a recent art installation in New York and is now available as a limited-edition 16"x20" archival print.
The painting, which makes a statement about both the United States' treatment of immigrant children and the COVID-19 crisis, is limited to 100 prints individually numbered and signed by Navarro. Proceeds from the sales will support The Sidewalk Project to better the lives of the homeless.
Navarro said, "Today, our immigrant population is facing an even more perilous crisis as COVID-19 has ravaged our world . . . Now that we are all locked up, which is sadly ironic, our system continues to deepen the suffering of our undocumented. When this piece was done in 2019, I had hoped for it to be a commentary on a very small window in our history. Today, in 2020, it speaks with more volume."
The Sidewalk Project is currently responding to the COVID-19 epidemic with food, education and kits that focus on strengthening the immune system, hygiene/hand washing, face masks and NARCAN harm reduction.
