Yesterday (April 28th), in honor of her 56th birthday Mick Jagger posted a photo of his late-girlfriend L'Wren Scott on his Instagram page, with the message, “Happy birthday L'Wren. MJ”
L'Wren Scott, who committed suicide on March 17th, 2014 at the age of 49, had been with Jagger for over 13 years, marking his second longest relationship following his second marriage to Jerry Hall.
Back in 2014, following Scott's death, Jagger posted on his website, “I am still struggling to understand how my lover and best friend could end her life in this tragic way. We spent many wonderful years together and had made a great life for ourselves. She had great presence and her talent was very much admired, not least by me. I have been touched by the tributes that people have paid to her and also the personal messages of support that I have received. I will never forget her. . . Mick.”
Although the Rolling Stones are often portrayed as a roving band of pirates, Keith Richards explained that the band has always relied heavily on their families — both on and off the road: “I mean, this is a very rootless life, if you’re on your own. Y’know, the only thing sometimes, you’ve got to hang on to is family. Ask anybody in this band, they’ve got very strong family ties.”
