Dave Fortman, producer of Slipknot's 2008 album All Hope Is Gone, is auctioning off his share of royalties from the LP through RoyaltyExchange.com. The site acts like a marketplace where intellectual property is bought and sold like other assets.
The winning bidder will collect royalties generated from any sales, streaming, and sync fees for the disc, as well as the individual singles contained on it. Sync fees are royalties paid to artists and producers for the licensing of a recording for a movie, TV show, or commercial
The current price for the royalties from that LP and the self-titled debut from Simple Plan, which Fortman also produced, is $758,000.
All Hope Is Gone debuted at Number One on the Billboard 200 album chart. It featured the rock radio hit “Psychosocial,” which was subsequently nominated for “Best Metal Performance” at the 51st Grammy Awards. It was also the last Slipknot album to feature founding member and bassist Paul Gray, who died in 2010.
