Jack Osbourne has confirmed in a new Jasta Show podcast that a film about the early romantic relationship between Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne is still in development.
Jack explained, “There is absolutely things in motion right now to make the movie a reality,” adding, “I think in the next few months, you'll probably see something coming up about it. But we haven't landed at a studio yet. So, fingers crossed.”
Sharon revealed the existence of the project in 2018, saying it would focus on her changing role as Ozzy's manager and then wife as he became a solo star after leaving Black Sabbath.
Sharon told Variety two years ago, “It’s definitely going to be a tearjerker. It’s not going to be a sex and drugs movie at all. Ozzy is so much more than that. I would hate to be a cliché.”
When a film about Ozzy's life was last discussed, Ozzy had some ideas about casting the lead role: “When I saw The Doors film, I was kind of disappointed they used Val Kilmer (as Jim Morrison), although he did a good part. I don't want to do that Hollywood thing, I want to get somebody from Birmingham (England), an up-and-coming young actor who can pull off the accent and can be like — see, the thing that I'm trying, what I'd like to see on this film, is from where to now, from where we started to how I got to the land of the stars.”
Ozzy's first solo album in a decade, Ordinary Man, came out in February. He has been unable to tour due to his own health issues as well as the arrival of the COVID-19 crisis.
