Fresh off the arrival of its new video “Hero,” Weezer will perform a brand new single, called “Blue Dream,” on this Sunday's (May 10th) edition of The Simpsons.
The episode, titled “The Hateful Eight Year-Olds,” follows Homer and Marge on a romantic cruise with a cover band called Sailor's Delight entertaining the passengers at night. That band is Weezer in animated form, playing several older tunes as well as “Blue Dream.”
“Blue Dream” is the third song to be unveiled from the upcoming Van Weezer LP, which will arrive at a yet-to-be-determined date. Van Weezer follows the release of last year's Black Album, as well as the covers set, the Teal Album.
Frontman Rivers Cuomo told us a while back that he's as surprised as anyone at Weezer's large and expanding body of work: “As we get older, we have this growing canon of material that, it's a part of our lives and it's part of our shows and there's no getting away from it, and it becomes more impressive as time goes on, and it's harder and harder to add to it.”
The first single from Van Weezer, “The Name Of The Game,” arrived last year, with “Hero” debuting earlier this week. The latter tune was accompanied by a video dedicated to the healthcare workers caring for COVID-19 patients.
