Volbeat has released a new animated video for “Leviathan,” the latest single off the band's seventh studio album, Rewind, Replay, Rebound.
Frontman Michael Poulsen told us the song is written from the viewpoint of a little boy who wants to save the world with the help of the Biblical sea monster Leviathan: “The lyrics is about this very, very young kid. He wakes up every morning and he believes he can see the big Leviathan out there in the ocean from the window. And he's pretty much aware that the world is not the most safe place. He's aware that he cannot clean up the whole world by himself, so he makes this kind of deal or pact with Leviathan out there in the ocean that they should come together with a plan, clean up the bad things in the world.”
The video is based on a painting by Karsten Sand that originally appeared in the album artwork for Rewind, Replay, Rebound. Volbeat revived its long-running “Official Bootleg” series last month with the release of a live video for “Leviathan.”
This past March, Volbeat's “Die To Live” topped the Mainstream Rock Songs airplay chart. The song was the group's eighth Mainstream Rock Songs chart-topper, breaking the band out of a tie with U2 for the most Number Ones by an act based outside of North America.
