Black Keys singer/guitarist Dan Auerbach says he's been hunkered down at his Easy Eye Sound studio in Nashville since the coronavirus pandemic broke out, wrapping up several projects.
Auerbach said, “Everything’s been ground to a halt. There was a lot going on,” adding that several albums he's been producing for his label will now be held up. Auerbach is also using the time to work on a project his bandmate Patrick Carney teased on Instagram last week — a 10th anniversary expanded edition of the Keys’ album Brothers.
Since the lockdown, Auerbach had largely been at home, saying, “It’s been a lot of taking care of the kids, because there’s no school. It’s really strange.” The duo officially canceled their summer tour two weeks ago. It was meant to be in support of the Black Keys' ninth studio album, “Let's Rock,” which was released in June 2019.
As for what it would take for him to return to the road, Auerbach mused, “Hmmm … a vaccine,” adding, “But I think I could go back to work in the studio with testing.”
