Morgan Wallen was arrested on Saturday night (May 23) and charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct. The arrest took place at Kid Rock’s honkytonk in downtown Nashville.
According to the police report, he refused to walk away with his friends after officers gave him several chances, and he got into several verbal confrontations with people passing by. Officers said Wallen bore a strong odor of alcohol and that he posed a danger to himself and the public. They arrested him for being intoxicated in public, unable to take care of himself, and the reasonable likelihood the offense would continue.
After the story broke on Sunday, Morgan posted this apology on Twitter: “Hey y’all just wanted to clear the air. I went out downtown last night with a few old friends. After a couple bar stops, we were horse-playing with each other. We didn't mean any harm, and we want to say sorry to any bar staff or anyone that was affected.”
He followed that with another tweet that read: “Thank you to the local authorities for being so professional and doing their job with class. Love y’all.”
Morgan Wallen was released from jail around 2am Sunday morning after posting a $500 bond.
