Slipknot is relaunching Knotfest.com as a global multi-media hub for news, interviews, performances, merchandise and more. A statement described the new site as a portal “dedicated to covering the very best of art, music, culture and media for fans of heavy culture.”
Percussionist Shawn “Clown” Crahan told us a while back that Slipknot has always been more than just a band to its fans, which the group calls its “maggots”: “I've always believed that, you know, we are not a band, we are a culture, and the reason why we are a culture is because, you know, there's a lot of things in this world people don't trust, but people trust us. Our fans, our 'maggots,' they trust us.”
To celebrate the launch and mark what would have been the kick-off of the “Knotfest Roadshow” U.S. tour, the site will host a streaming event this Friday (May 29th) at 3:00 p.m. PT.
The event will feature exclusive concert streams, led by Slipknot's 2019 headline set from Graspop Metal Meeting in Belgium. Also featured will be performances from Underoath and Code Orange, both of which were supposed to be on the U.S. trek.
The newly re-imagined Knotfest.com will be a fan-centered platform, offering content from both emerging bands and the biggest artists via features, exclusive web series, curated playlists and more.
Up first will be a brand new audio interview series, called The Electric Theater and hosted by Crahan. The weekly segment will feature casual conversations with musicians, with Code Orange's Jami Morgan slated as the first guest.
