Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and rapper Machine Gun Kelly have hit the studio to record a cover of Rage Against The Machine's 28-year-old protest song, “Killing in the Name.”
The track has been accompanied by a video, featuring footage shot at the past week's Los Angeles protests over the murder of George Floyd, where both artists can be seen marching.
Kelly wrote, “They wrote this song in 1992. It's been 28 years since and every word still applies.” The clip ends with a solitary message: “End Systematic Racism.”
Kelly called upon Barker on Wednesday (June 3rd) to come to his studio and record the song. One day later, the track and the video appeared. The original version surfaced on Rage Against The Machine's self-titled 1992 debut.
Kelly and Barker have previously teamed up with Yungblud on the 2019 single, “I Think I'm OKAY.” Yungblud makes a cameo in the protest footage from the “Killing in the Name” video as well.
