BTS is gearing up for their Festa 2020 celebration.
The K-pop stars shared a teaser for the celebration Wednesday that shows the members recreating their first birthday party.
In the video, the members of BTS prepare food and cake and reflect on their time together as a group. BTS will celebrate the seventh anniversary of their debut single album, “2 Cool 4 Skool,” on June 12th. The group has a number of events planned leading up to the official anniversary.
BTS voiced their support for the Black Lives Matter movement last week in the wake of George Floyd’s death. BTS fans have helped raise over $1 million in donations for BLM since June 1st
Meanwhile, BTS member Suga made history on a slew of Billboard charts last week with his new mixtape D-2 (released under his Agust D moniker) and the songs featured on it.
D-2 debuted at No. 11 on the Billboard 200, breaking the record for the highest ranking on the Billboard 200 by a Korean solo artist. The record was previously held by fellow BTS member RM’s mono. which debuted at No. 26 after its release in October 2018. Prior to RM, J-Hope’s 2018 mixtape Hope World had the record, debuting at No. 63 and rising to No. 38.
His presence was also on several rap-only lists, which are notoriously difficult to break onto for musicians performing in a language other than English.
D-2 didn’t just make it to the Top Rap Albums chart, it debuted inside the Top 10. Suga’s sophomore solo effort opened at No. 9, a surprisingly lofty position for any South Korean musician. No other release from an artist from his home country has managed to break into the highest tier on the tally before this week.
On the Rap Digital Song Sales chart, seven of the 10 cuts featured on the mixtape made their way to the short tally, with fellow BTS member RM joining Suga on one of the highest-charting of the bunch.
“Strange,” the song RM worked on with Suga, debuted at No. 4, making it the third-highest-charting song in the list’s history by a South Korean musician of any kind.
Only five musicians from South Korea have reached the Rap Digital Song Sales chart, and RM is just the fifth to do so.
Leading the way among all seven of Suga’s current hits on the Rap Digital Song Sales chart is “Daechwita.” The tune debuted at No. 1, making history as the first tune by a South Korean artist to lead the way on the rap-only list.
Suga’s collaborators, pop singer MAX and RM, both scored their first Top 10 appearances on the Rap Digital Song Sales chart thanks to the work they created with the star.
