Dashboard Confessional frontman Chris Carrabba was involved in a motorcycle crash this past Saturday (June 6th). The singer took to social media to announce that he has sustained severe, but non-life-threatening injuries and is currently recovering in the hospital.
Carrabba shared a photo of himself in the hospital online and said that he was “determined to make a full recovery,” but had “surgeries and months of rehab to come.” He added, “I owe the amazing doctors, nurses, and medical team treating me my endless gratitude.”
Carrabba then shifted the conversation to the ongoing Black Lives Matter protests that are happening worldwide, writing, “I have not lost sight of the social issues at hand. And even in the condition I’m in, I find it important to state that I stand with black lives matter . . . If you don’t hear from me on the critical social issues, I trust that you will know where I stand.”
Carrabba also shared a statement thanking the safety gear that helped protect him in the crash, as well as his friends and family. He wrote, “To all reading this, I would like to say thank you for standing by me through recovery. This will be difficult physically, emotionally and financially and I’m grateful to have your support as I go through it.”
Carrabba launched Dashboard Confessional in 1999 and scored Top 10 hits at Modern Rock radio with “Hands Down” in 2003 and “Vindicated” in 2004. The band's most recent album, Crooked Shadows, came out in 2018.
