Bring Me The Horizon has released its new single, “Parasite Eve,” after delaying its arrival for two weeks due to the worldwide protests over the killing of George Floyd.
The tune has been accompanied by a video made while the band was in lockdown. The group also recorded in quarantine, utilizing both remote recording options and video calls to work together while documenting the whole experience for a series of videos.
Singer Oli Sykes said about the track, “'Parasite Eve' came from an idea to write a survival horror song, but as the pandemic started to develop, the parallels were so similar it felt so close to the bone we decided to shelve it.”
He continued, “As time went on, we started to feel how relevant it was and that instead of shying from it, we should address the dark side, embrace it, and process what's going on . . . 'Parasite Eve' is our message of hope, wrapped in sadness and anger.”
“Parasite Eve” is the first song from a series of four EPs Bring Me The Horizon will release over the coming months. Sykes told NME, “We're going to make four different records over the next year and they'll all share the name Post Human. They'll each be tonally different with their own sound and mood.”
