Saturday (July 4th) marked the 25th anniversary of the release of Foo Fighter's self-titled debut album and Dave Grohl recalled recording an early tape version of the album pretty much by himself “for fun” before record labels showed an interest. He told Apple Music’s Beats 1, “I actually recorded the whole thing in sequence. I was really, really excited to do this. I mean, it was almost like a school project. I was preparing, I had charts.”
Other tidbits he shared is that he originally made 100 cassette copies of the album which he handed out to friends, his favorite song from that project is “Exhausted,” and that if he were re-writing the Foo Fighters album liner notes he would dedicate it to Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic and Kurt Cobain.
