Ten-year-old Nandi Bushell got yet another surprise from her favorite musician, Dave Grohl, yesterday (Monday, Sept. 14th) via social media — a song he wrote and played just for her. Grohl also enlisted the help of his three daughters, whom he dubbed the “Grohlettes, to sing backup. He captioned the clip, “Ok @Nandi_Bushell….Round 2! Every superhero needs a theme song. Here’s one for you! Mad props to The Grohlettes for the background vocals.”
Bushell recently challenged Grohl to a drum battle and beat him with her rendition of the Foo Fighters‘ “Everlong.” Grohl accepted and responded with Them Crooked Vultures’ “Dead End Friends.” According to Grohl's post, this is the second round of the competition.
The video from Grohl opens with the Foo Fighters frontman sitting in front of his drum kit saying, “OK Nandi, you got me. You win round one, but I’ve got something special for you. Something you’ve never heard before. Something I’ve never heard before because I’m about to write this off the top of my head for you.”
The lyrics include, “She got the power/ She got the soul/ Gonna save the world with her rock and roll!”
