Jack White played the part of guitar hero after a street busker's only guitar was smashed on the street by an allegedly drunk woman in Edinburgh earlier this week. According to the Daily Mail, Matt Grant shared a video he recorded just after the event showing the destroyed instrument saying, “Obviously if I don’t have a guitar, I can’t busk. If you could help out, I’d be — massive appreciation.” He set up a
GoFundMe, which was a success after just 24 hours and Grant was able to purchase a new guitar. His good fortune didn't end there, however. Jack White saw the post and had his manager reach out to Grant to tell him that White also wanted to buy him a guitar.
Grant shared a post on Instagram on Wednesday (Oct. 21st) with a picture of his second new guitar — a custommade fenderstratocaster — writing, “Absolute once in a million lifetimes thing happened today and I cannot thank Jack enough for his absolute generosity. Apparently he saw what happened and hit up his manager just this morning, who then amazingly tracked me down to the guitar shop just in time for me to walk out with this absolute beauty. Thanks Jack. I’d love to thank you personally one day, you’re a legend.”
