Fans got a little concerned last night (November 19th) when Gucci Mane decided to play his Jeezy diss track “Truth” during their VERZUZ battle. The 2012 song references the death of Jeezy's friend Pookie Loc. After performing the song, Gucci said, “Put that n*gga a** in the dirt. Smoking on Pookie Loc tonight.” He added, “Send some more, I'm a send them the same way. In a box back to you.”
Jeezy responded, “I'll tell you what. See when I even called you and extended this invite, my n***a, I did it as a real man,” he began. “It’s been 20 motherf*cking years—” Gucci interjected, “Fifteen years!” He added, “I don't wanna talk. I'm through talkin. It's your turn to do the song. Are we gon' do music?”
Jeezy continued, “Let me say my piece … I extended my hand because I'm a real man. The sh*t we came from in the street, dawg, you see that we been through it … Twenty years. And when I said I wanted to do this sh*t for the culture, that’s what I wanted to do. I brought you here to show you the world care about what the f*ck we got going on 'cause we are the culture. You feel me? Me and you, where we came from, what we been through, n***a, us.”
Jeezy added, “All these kids out here doing what the f*ck they do 'cause they saw what went on with us. This sh*t ain’t about me, it ain’t about you. This sh*t about King Von, this sh*t about Doe B, this sh*t about Nipsey Hussle, this sh*t about motherf*cking Pop Smoke, Mo3. And I’m real enough to do that, n***a, because one thing about it, two things fo sho, three things for certain, n***a…”
At that moment, Jeezy's “Get Your Mind Right” began to play.
At the end of the battle, the two came together to perform “So Icy,” track that sparked their 15-year-old beef.
Gucci told Jeezy, “Ay, man, listen. I respect, I appreciate you for throwing out the olive branch. I accept that. No disrespect, it's all love.”
