Two women who are down on their luck will be able to pay the rent this month thanks to Taylor Swift.
Billboard confirms that the singer donated $13,000 to two mothers’ GoFundMe pages after reading a Washington Post article about Americans who are behind on the rent due to the lack of a stimulus package during the COVID-19 pandemic.
One of the recipients is a single mother from Nashville named Nikki Cornwell who is $5,000 behind on the rent and is worried that her kids won’t have a Christmas this year.
Alongside her donation, Swift wrote, “Nikki, I read about you in the Washington Post and thought it was really brave of you to share your story. I'm so sorry for everything you've had to go through this year and wanted to send you this gift, from one Nashville girl to another. Love, Taylor.”
Shelbie Selewski from Michigan is the other recipient of Swift’s generosity. According to her GoFundMe, the mother-of-two has struggled to find work while taking care of her youngest daughter, who was born with a collapsed lung last December.
The singer donated $13,000 to Selewski as well, writing, “Shelbie, I'm sending you this gift after reading about you in the Washington Post. No one should have to feel the kind of stress that's been put on you. I hope you and your beautiful family have a great holiday season. Love, Taylor.”
