False rumors about Trapt parting ways with vocalist Chris Taylor Brown started swirling on Monday (December 14th).
A fake Parler account for the band wrote, “Unfortunately, there were some view points that were said that we do not agree with and it was negatively impacting the rest of the band. We wish him well and hope he can find the help he needs.”
The story was quickly picked up by NME and Metal Sucks before it came to light that the account that was used to make the announcement – @TraptParler – was a fake.
Brown responded to the NME article, written by Josh Martin, on his official Parler account – @CTBTraptParler.
He shared an image of the headline, “Trapt part ways with vocalist Chris Taylor Brown over far right views” and captioned it with, “Who the f**k is Josh Martin and what far right views do I have Josh? Oh and Trapt is something I started when I was 16 and I practice what I preach in my lyrics, unlike just about the entire music industry. You all are sheep. Someone tell this jackass he was duped by fake Parker accounts”.
The band was recently banned from both Twitter and Facebook for Brown's comments supporting The Proud Boys and statutory rape.
