Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins says he started a Christmas album a couple of years ago but never finished it. Corgan said, “We kind of did it quick, and I wasn't satisfied with the results, so I junked it all.”
That doesn’t mean he won’t come back to it. He says he had written some songs and picked a couple of classics that he liked and hopes to get around to it sometime, but for now, he says, ” “It's completely stalled.”
He first talked about it two years ago in an interview with USA Today. He said, “It would probably lean more acoustic. I would think it's a bit weird to make wild Christmas records. Although, I also like “Jingle Bell Rock,” which is basically 1950s rockabilly.”
If they do a Christmas record he thinks it should be something “you want to put on and sit around the tree with the kids and not rock out to.”
Smashing Pumpkins recently released their album, CYR.
