Lady A top the Mediabase/Country Aircheck Singles chart for the third consecutive week and hold the Number One spot on Billboard's Country Airplay chart for the second week as “Champagne Night” becomes their 11th career chart-topping hit. It's also the first song from NBC's primetime series Songland to become a radio single.
Lady A's Hillary Scott said, “Since we started the journey with ‘Champagne Night’ every step of the process has been so special to us. We couldn’t be more thankful for all the support from our fans and friends at Country radio and to Songland for believing in the song as much as we did. I can’t believe we get to start 2021 off with a multi-week No. One….it almost feels unreal!”
After nearly 14 years together as a group, Lady A has experienced their share of career highs and lows, but as Charles Kelley tells us, they've learned a very valuable lesson. “It was such a giant splash early on that I think, whether you admitted it or not, when every single didn’t reach the same level of success, there was just a little piece of you that was like, gosh, is it ever gonna … and at some point you have to just enjoy the journey and appreciate the art, and enjoy the process and not so much the outcome. Cause that’s how we did it in the beginning, but once you know success you’re so afraid of losing it. And I think now we’re kinda going a little bit more fearlessly about it. And I always feel like that’s when we’re at our best and that’s when things work, when you don’t force it.”
“Champagne Night” is included on the deluxe edition of Lady A’s Ocean album.
