Genesis has once again pushed the tour dates for their “The Last Domino?” reunion shows, with the band's 19-show European leg hitting the UK and Ireland in September and October. Back in July the band had pushed the reunion gigs to April 2021, with the new dates marking the third time the band has been forced to reschedule.
The band — featuring Phil Collins, Mike Rutherford, and Tony Banks — will be joined on the road by longtime lead guitar and bassist Daryl Stuermer, and Phil Collins' son Nic Collins on drums. The band posted a video montage over a rehearsal version of their 1980 Duke classic, “Behind The Lines.”
Genesis posted a statement, which reads:
The decision to move the tour again is due to the global pandemic, and even with the roll out of the vaccine, there are still a huge amount of uncertainties and unanswered questions that make a tour in April difficult for everyone.
It is appreciated, that for whatever reason, those planning on attending the shows may not feel comfortable doing so, so by moving the tour we can alleviate some of those concerns and in turn that will allow the band and the crew to prepare with less unpredictability and create a show that both the band and fans alike will treasure and enjoy.
Existing tickets for the rescheduled dates will remain valid, and ticket holders will be contacted by their ticket agent.
We asked co-founding member Mike Rutherford what he's most proud of from his time in Genesis: “More an appreciation of different things about our career. A) That we had the career (laughs) we had and it lasted as long as it did. And I think because we're all good friends, I know this is the corny old stuff, but it makes the memories — I think — more enjoyable. Y'know, so many bands fall out and if so-and-so goes, the other one's not going, y'know? I feel pretty proud of what we've done of what we've done, actually, over the years.”
