It may not have been the Hollywood ending Jenna Dewan was hoping for when she divorced Channing Tatum, but in the end, it helped her become a better and stronger person.
The 40-year-old told Women’s Health of her newfound strength following their 2018 split: “I got here by following the flow. I’ve really been big on that. I know when I’m swimming upstream and fighting it.”
She said of their decision to break up and co-parent the daughter Everly: “Absolutely nothing has changed about how much we love one another, but love is a beautiful adventure that is taking us on different paths for now. There are no secrets nor salacious events at the root of our decision — just two best-friends realizing it’s time to take some space and help each other live the most joyous, fulfilled lives as possible. We are still a family and will always be loving dedicated parents to Everly.”
In 2020, she became engaged to Steve Kazee, and welcomed Callum in March of 2020. It wasn’t easy in the midst of the world shutting down. Dewan said: “I was in this postpartum-haze bubble, then a week later, everything just shut down. It was new; it was different; it was kind of scary. But we were all in it together.”
She said of trying to not be a control freak: “I am in no way at that point where I’m like, ‘I’ve got it all figured out.’ I’m still learning more about myself every single day: what I want, how I want to experience it. All of that is in flux. I am not one of those people who thinks change doesn’t happen. Instead, I own it, I’m happy with it, and I’m excited to see what develops from it.”
