Jimmie Allen turned to Twitter over the weekend to open a conversation with fans about forgiveness and accountability in the wake of the Morgan Wallen controversy.
Here are his tweets in order:
“Forgiveness is more powerful than abandonment. Our job as humans is to help each other be the best version of themselves.”
“It’s not about what is easiest….it’s about what is right. In order to receive forgiveness, we must give forgiveness.”
“Accountability is very important..we all must be held accountable for our actions. Looking over my life and my mistakes I remember the consequences I had to face, but I also remember the people that didnt give up me and were willing to help me DO better. Thankful for those people”
Morgan called a friend the N word while in his driveway after a drunken night out earlier this month. A neighbor captured the incident on video and provided it to TMZ. Since then, Morgan's recording contract has been “suspended,” he's been dropped by his booking agent, Country radio has largely pulled his music from playlists and the ACM has deemed him ineligible to receive any award nominations this year or be a part of the awards show. At the same time, Morgan's music continues to set streaming and sales records, with his new album, Dangerous, holding at Number One for a 4th consecutive week on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart.
