Despite ramping up once again with Foo Fighters, Dave Grohl hasn't ruled out teaming up with Them Crooked Vultures in the future. The supergroup featured Grohl on drums, Queens Of The Stone Age singer/guitarist Josh Homme, and Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones on bass.
Them Crooked Vultures released its self-titled debut album in 2009 and toured behind it, although plans for a follow-up in 2011 never materialized.
While talking about the Foos' new album Medicine At Midnight on Apple Music Hits, Dave Grohl looked back on the beloved band, that still has a legion of fans: "Them Crooked Vultures is a dream band for any drummer because I got to be a part of this three piece rhythm section because Josh isn’t just a soloist. Josh plays the drums. He plays the guitar like a drummer and John Paul Jones is the greatest rock n' roll bass player in the history of music. When we sat down to start playing, it was about 30 seconds to a minute and we realized this is a real band. This is the real deal."
Grohl went on to say, "We would walk into the studio every day with no ideas. We would sit down, we’d have tea, we’d have coffee, we’d start jamming. By the end of that night, we’d have an eight-minute long opus. Just a rock masterpiece. It was incredibly inspiring. It was a really incredible time. I hope that someday we do it again."
Dave Grohl told us at the time of the first album's release that Them Crooked Vultures was pure fun for him: ["It's easy to be in a band like this, because not only is it fun, but it works. And it works well. I think the less we talk or think about anything, the better it works, y'know? So to make the album was, it was really, really easy, and fun."] SOUNDCUE (:15 OC: . . . easy and fun)
