Miranda Lambert has been teasing an upcoming project on social media, and now some of the details have been revealed. She has teamed up with a couple of her favorite fellow Texas songwriters, Jack Ingram and Jon Randall, to release their recordings of songs they wrote together called The Marfa Tapes. The collaborative album will be released on May 7th.
Miranda tells us: “The way we approached putting out The Marfa Tapes was truly just putting out work tapes. I mean we were going to just put them out as work tapes on our phones but we didn’t feel that the quality was good enough on some of them because the West Texas wind blowin’. But we took two microphones out there and just kinda documented how the songs would go down. We did one take and you know some of them were around the fire. Some of them were in the cabin. Some of them were recorded on a ridge watching the sunset but it definitely was just meant to be very raw and real and in the moment.”
Yesterday (Thursday, March 4th), Miranda revealed the first song, “In His Arms,” will be released today (Friday, March 5th).
In a series of recent social media posts, Miranda explained that she, Jon and Jack often meet up in Marfa, Texas, to write songs and “recharge.” She wrote, “Every time I need an escape, I go to Marfa, TX. @JackIngram, and @jonrandallmusic come. We recharge. We get inspired by its beauty. We write songs. Tin Man was the 1st one we shared with you. Tequila Does was the 2nd. In between, we’ve written 13 more. And it’s about time to start sharing them with y’all . . .”
In other Miranda news, she is getting into the bar business. She's the first female country star with plans to open a honky tonk in Nashville’s Lower Broadway area, according to the Nashville Business Journal. It will be called Miranda Lambert’s Casa Rosa, and the building is currently undergoing interior renovations. No opening date has been announced. Miranda joins the likes of Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton, Jason Aldean, Florida Georgia Line and Alan Jackson in opening a downtown Nashville establishment.
