Jason Aldean is hoping that Morgan Wallen will return to the spotlight “sooner rather than later” after the controversy surrounding his racial slur back in February. During his visit to the Just Being Ernest podcast, Jason said he thinks Morgan is “the next superstar” in country music, adding, that “he's a great talent.”
Morgan has been MIA pretty much since that event happened. At the time, his label suspended his recording contract and he was dropped from radio airplay lists. His booking agent dropped him and the Academy of Country Music deemed him ineligible to receive any awards and/or participate at the upcoming ACM Awards.
Jason said, “To me, I think he’s one of the most talented guys that has come through this town in a long time, just from a writer's standpoint, a singing standpoint. He was out on tour with me last year and to me — and I even told Morgan this when he was out with us — I was like, 'Man, you're the next superstar of our business, man.'”
He added, “I mean, you could just tell, he just kind of had that thing. I love his voice, I love the songs he's cutting, I love his vibe. He's got his own little thing that's him that's nobody else, and I think to me that's what being a star is. He's the guy that I've been the most excited about in this town for a long time . . . He’s a guy I’m excited about and hopefully, everything that’s going on with him will kind of get straightened out and he'll be back sooner than later. He's a great talent, man.”
Morgan's Dangerous: The Double Album has remained in the Number One spot on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart for 10 consecutive weeks. According to Billboard, Dangerous is the first album to spend its first 10 weeks at Number One since 1987.
