Mumford & Sons' Marcus Mumford made a surprise appearance during host Carey Mulligan's monologue on Saturday Night Live over the weekend. Mulligan is Mumford's wife.
She said, “I'm . . . very excited to be here because my husband was actually musical guest three times — Marcus Mumford from Mumford & Sons! Or as I like to call it, My Husband & Sons, but he couldn't be here tonight, so he's at home watching the children. So hi, babe! Love you!”
From the back of the audience, Mumford responded, “Love you too! Hi, Carey! Couldn't miss this for the world! And I meant to ask: Do you know if they booked a musical guest for tonight?”
Kid Cudi was the musical guest, but Mumford kindly offered his services should he be needed.
Mumford went on to interrupt the monologue one more time by playing his guitar, after which he explained, “Sorry. I thought you were giving me the signal — our secret couples signal for 'please play the guitar.'”
Mumford reappeared at the end of the show when Mulligan thanked musical guest Kid Cudi as well as her husband.
