Just days after the death of DMX, hip-hop has suffered another tragic loss. On Saturday (April 17th), rapper Black Rob died. He was 51. According to TMZ, Rob, born Robert Ross, died while hospitalized in Atlanta. The former Bad Boy rapper was battling kidney failure for a while and had suffered several strokes and other ailments.
Just last week, after paying respects to DMX, Rob made a video explaining his health issues and also revealed that he had been homeless and needed “rest.” He said, “Oh man, I’ve been dealing with this for five years. Four strokes … I don’t know what to tell you man. Sh*t is crazy. The sh*t is hard. I don’t got no house to live in — except maybe an apartment. Me and my man be trying to get together. I’m telling you man, this sh*t is strange. It’s hard, you know what I’m saying?”
Meanwhile, another former Bad Boy MC Mark Curry made a video letting everyone know that Daddy had been in touch with Rob and had asked people to donate to Rob's GoFundMe page. After Rob's death, Curry made another video thanking everyone who donated to the page and publicly asked Rob's children to get in contact with him.
Daddy paid tribute to Rob on social media yesterday, by posting a picture with Rob, along with the caption, “Rest in power King @therealblackrob ! As I listen to your records today there’s one thing that they all have in common! You have made millions of people all over the world feel good and dance! You are one of a kind! GOD BLESS! 🙏🏿 Love. 🖤💫✨ You will be truly missed!!!! 💔”
