Steve Harvey was trending yesterday (April 27th) after old footage resurfaced of him saying that he doesn't have any female friends. He said, “All of my friends are men. I don’t have female friends, I don’t. I’m incapable of that. I don’t really have female friends. Let’s get rid of this myth right here…”
He continued, telling the female interviewer, “You’re an attractive woman. There are some guys somewhere saying ‘We’re friends.’ No, that’s not true. He’s your friend only because you have made it absolutely clear that nothing else is happening except this friendship we have.”
He added, “We remain your friends in hopes that one day they’ll be a crack in the door, a cheek in the armor, and trust and believe that guy you think that’s just your buddy—he will slide in that crack the moment he gets the opportunity cause we’re guys. 99.9 percent of us think that way.”
SOCIAL MEDIA REACTS
Steve Harvey started trending immediately after the comments surfaced. One person wrote, “If men can't be be civilized, hold themselves accountable or behave respectfully, then they need to get out of the way and let women lead. Apparently, women deserve to be in charge because men like Steve Harvey are toddlers with little self control.”
Another person wrote, “Steve Harvey basically said, “I objectify women, but who doesn't? It is what it is.”
